Evansville Recognized by Indiana Chamber

And the winner is – Evansville.

The city was named Community of the Year for 2006, as designated by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. The state chamber recognized Evansville for its downtown revitalization, construction of two major corporate headquarters buildings and the arrival of new cultural and tourist attractions.

Other factors in Evansville’s favor included the permanent docking of World War II vessel LST-325 and Casino Aztar’s new $40 million entertainment pavilion. Evansville bested more than 20 other communities for the title.
