Painting the City with Arts Accolades

Evansville has generated some positive press as a city friendly to working artists.
Arts Calendar, which describes itself as “the business magazine for visual artists,” has ranked Evansville No. 2 on its list of 10 Great Towns for Working Artists.
According to the magazine, among Evansville’s attributes is Haynie’s Corner, which plays host to the largest arts festival in the tri-state area and draws 5,000 to 6,000 tourists annually.
The magazine also notes restoration efforts for the 95-year-old Alhambra Movie Theater, which will become a mixed-use community center. To read more, go to
