Thanks to the dedicated caregivers at St. Mary’s Health System and Deaconess Health System, Southwest Indiana residents benefit from modern facilities, state-of-the-art health-care technology and leading-edge medical procedures.
Deaconess Gateway Hospital is a prime example of that commitment, says Linda White, president and CEO of Deaconess Health System. The newest of Deaconess’ five hospitals, two-year-old Gateway provides a full range of acute-care services, including emergency medicine, cardiac care and comprehensive pediatric services that are provided through a partnership with Riley Hospital for Children, surgical services and much more.
“Deaconess Gateway Hospital is a full-service hospital that is equipped with the latest technology located in the heart of the Tri-State,” White says. “This 116-bed hospital has the capability to care for patients of all ages – from our state-of-the-art pediatric intensive care unit to our open-heart-surgery operating rooms, our neurosurgical program and our orthopedic joint-replacement program.”
Deaconess Health System also offers a freestanding cancer center, a physician practice group with 14 ambulatory sites, two urgent-care facilities, a preferred-provider organization, and multiple partnerships with other area health-care providers.
St. Mary’s Health System – a member of Ascension Health, the largest Catholic health system and the largest not-for-profit system in the United States – provides a full range of medical services at nearly a dozen facilities throughout the region.
“As one of our region’s leading health-care providers and a Catholic ministry, St. Mary’s is called to provide health care that is safe, health care that works and health care that leaves no one behind,” says Timothy Flesch, president and CEO of St. Mary’s.
“We are realizing this through a patient-centric, relationship-based care model, engaging physicians in quality improvement and leading-edge technology and procedures. Our goal is to offer the highest quality of health care while creating the best patient and family experience available.”
Innovation is a hallmark of St. Mary’s, and the Center for Advanced Medicine is one example. The result of a unique partnership between St. Mary’s, the physicians of Ohio Valley HeartCare and developer-owner Bremmer & Wiley, the new, 125,000-square-foot center is designed to provide the highest level of care and comfort for individuals seeking outpatient services.
By housing the physicians of Ohio Valley HeartCare, outpatient laboratory service, outpatient imaging, the Joslin Diabetes Center and St. Mary’s Heart Institute in one location, the Center for Advanced Medicine provides convenient access for patients while bringing all of St. Mary’s advanced cardiac services to a single location.
